What is Legacy Giving?

Legacy giving, also known as planned giving, allows you to make a lasting impact on the lives of animals by including APCSM in your long-term financial planning. These meaningful gifts ensure our shelter can continue to rescue, care for, and find loving homes for animals in need for years to come.

Ways to Leave Your Legacy

1. A Gift in Your Will or Trust

  • Designate a specific amount, percentage, or asset in your will or trust to APCSM.

  • A simple, impactful way to leave a lasting gift without affecting your finances today.

2. Retirement Plan Beneficiary

  • Name APCSM as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement plan.

  • This can be a tax-efficient way to give, as retirement assets left to non-profits avoid income tax.

3. Life Insurance Beneficiary

  • Add APCSM as a beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy.

  • You can choose to gift a portion or all of the policy's benefit.

4. IRA Rollovers

  • If you are 70½ or older, you can donate up to $100,000 annually from your IRA directly to APCSM without counting it as taxable income.

5. Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)

  • Recommend a grant to APCSM through your donor-advised fund.

  • A simple way to support us while receiving immediate tax benefits.
