Rehoming Your Pet

Your beloved pet relies on you for their chance at a fresh start. While the APCSM works tirelessly to ensure the comfort of every animal under our care, our facility accommodates over 1,000 animals annually.

You know your pet better than anyone else and can give potential new owners the best understanding of their needs, personality, and quirks. We urge you to take charge of rehoming your pet before surrendering them to a shelter.

Shelters can be stressful for animals, no matter how well-run they are. Being in a kennel with lots of other animals around can be difficult for your pet; it might make your pet anxious, aggressive, or sick, despite the care our staff and volunteers provide.

If you are facing a crisis like homelessness, please call us at 508-586-2053 or email info@apcsm.org.

Please see the resources below for help on keeping your pet, finding them a new home, or surrendering them to a shelter.

The Animal Protection Center is an open admission adoption facility that accepts cats, dogs, and small animals for surrender (guinea pigs, bunnies, ferrets, birds, chinchillas, hedgehogs, etc). We ask that you provide the name of the veterinarian you use as well as any veterinary records that you have for the animal being surrendered. If the animal has any special medical equipment or medications please bring those with you.

We ask for a surrender donation at the time of surrender in order to help us offset the cost of care for the animal during their stay. If you have any additional questions, please contact us.
