Life is Precious

Life Is Precious is our fund dedicated to treating the medical needs of animals that come into our care. These needs can range from a kitten with a broken paw to a dog with a ruptured spinal disc. In 2023, the APCSM spent over $55,000 on medical care beyond routine treatments. This means your support is needed more than ever for our pets requiring emergency medical attention. Thank you for supporting our Life is Precious Fund!

Here are just a few of the MANY animals that have been helped by your donations:

Button

Sweet little Button was found as a stray in Brockton and a good Samaritan brought her to the APCSM. Button's right eye was ruptured and she needed to be rushed to the ER. Our staff brought her to New England Animal Medical Center right away to have her eye removed as this condition was very painful for Button. Thankfully, she had a successful surgery and is now fully healed!

Boo

Boo arrived at the shelter in 2018 after he was found as a stray. He had a massive skin issue. This poor boy had little to no hair and his skin was red, raw and irritated. He was clearly extremely uncomfortable. After countless medicated baths, a regimented diet and medication routine, Boo started to look like himself again. He looked like a completely different dog and his personality shone.

Bentley

Bentley was surrendered to the APCSM in January 2022 and we quickly noticed he was limping on one of his hind legs. After an exam with Dr. Marks, she stated there was evidence of a torn cruciate ligament that appeared to have been torn for several months. He could barely use his back right leg when he walked.

Due to the severity of his injury and lack of any sign of healing - he needed an appointment with a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and then surgery to correct the issue so he could live his best life pain free. After a successful surgery, Bentley was adopted into a wonderful home!!

Charlie

In early 2023, Charlie made her way to the APCSM when her owner unfortunately passed away. She is a loving, sweet, beautiful girl who just wants to hang out all day and show her appreciation for her fellow humans! Our team noticed she had a leg injury that was affecting her ability to walk normally and comfortably. After a consultation with a board certified surgeon, it was found that she had tearing of the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) and would therefore need surgery called a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO). Thanks to our amazing supporters, Charlie was able to receive surgery and she did great!
